Quiet camping at the Red Bull Ring: night rest — measured, not promised

A race weekend is loud — during the day. V10 memories, MotoGP sound, 100,000 fans. But once the day is over, the real question is what your second race day will feel like: well rested or wrecked. That is exactly what the Schitterhof is for. Quiet here is not a marketing word but an operating principle — and since summer 2026, a measurement result too.

Why "quiet" means something different here

Around the Ring, camping comes in two worlds. In one, the weekend is partied through — sound systems, chanting into the early hours, and anyone who wants to sleep is out of luck. In the other, sleep is the whole point, so the next race day is a joy. Both have their audience. Years ago we clearly chose the second world: night rest from 11:00 pm, consistently enforced — with security patrolling at night, a lit site, and guests who book precisely this atmosphere: families, couples, motorhome travellers, many regulars.

The nice thing: quiet attracts quiet. Whoever books with us is looking for it — which is why it works.

Anyone can promise. We had it measured.

Because "quiet" is quickly claimed, we had the night rest independently measured by objectcheck during the 2026 Formula 1 weekend — to ÖNORM S 5004, the Austrian standard for outdoor sound measurement, with calibrated equipment and its own weather station.

The measurement point was deliberately where it should be loudest: the western edge of our site, about 900 metres from the Red Bull Ring, in the nights of 26/27 and 27/28 June 2026, from 11:00 pm to 12:30 am each — right in the busiest weekend of the year.

The result: the base level (LA,95) was around 47 dB(A) in both nights — the level present 95 % of the time, matching a quiet residential area at night. The overall level around midnight (LA,eq, around 54 dB(A)) comes, as the report explicitly states, from the surroundings — roads, gastronomy, nearby event areas. Not from our site.

No singing, no chanting, no sound systems — verbatim from the report. Physics instead of brochures.

What that means for your stay

You actually sleep. After a day at the track — sun, impressions, kilometres on foot — you fall into a quiet bed instead of a non-stop party. Next morning you sit rested at breakfast while elsewhere the hangover rules.
